First Atlanta Jewish Music Festival! And Greencard DJs will be playing klezmerhop and balkan bangers all night on the outdoor patio.
There will also be some bands:
Moshav Band:
Imagine the jamming of Phish mixed with the vocal
strength of Pearl Jam and the spiritual lyrics of U2 seasoned with a
Middle Eastern influence and you can begin to describe the unique sound
of Moshav.
DeLeon:
15th Century Spanish indie rock infused
with the deeply mysterious and entrancing cadences of the ancient
Sephardic tradition. Their music, birthed in Spain before the
Inquisition and raised in pre-WWII Italy, has finally reached maturity
in modern-day Brooklyn.
Girls in Trouble:
Raised on a
combination of Baltimore punk shows and classical violin training, and
drawing on two years spent studying the Bible in Jerusalem while playing
in rock clubs at night, Alicia combines mysticism, a looping pedal,
ancient women's tales and poetry to make beautiful songs about love
& leprosy.
4th Ward Afro-Klemzer Orchestra:
An original
Atlanta musical entity, 4th Ward AKO is a nine piece jazz orchestra
playing original compositions and arrangements that combine West African
influenced rhythms with Eastern European Klezmer melodies.
